Four Ways to Reduce Your Tax Prep Fee

The 2023 Tax Season is upon us!

And what better way to prepare our clients than to provide ways to help reduce your tax preparation fee:

1. Fill out our Client Intake Form.

Prior to delivering your documents or your appointment, complete the Client Intake Form that was mailed to you in January. Although your information may not have changed from year to year, having this information readily available speeds up the process and allows the accountant to verify your information as opposed to searching or asking multiple questions to track down pertinent information. If you did not receive your client intake form, you can find one on our website.

2. Prepare your documents.

Prior to document delivery or your appointment, have your documents out of envelopes and organized. This will speed up the tax filing process and eliminate the time your accountant would use opening envelopes, organizing receipts and documents and searching for pertinent information. By aiding in this step, you are allowing your accountant to focus more on accuracy, efficiency and maximizing your refund, if applicable. By opening and reviewing your documents prior to drop off/appointment, you may eliminate unnecessary delays should a tax document be incorrect. Each year, clients show up thinking they have their W-2 in hand and it turns out it isn’t a W-2 or they open a tax document and discover its incomplete or incorrect.

3. Total your amounts.

Total your amounts ahead of time in lieu of bringing in boxes and/or bags of miscellaneous documents. If you are in doubt of what to calculate, refer to your previous years return or call the office for guidance.

4. Write down any questions you may have.

If you have questions about your return or other tax related questions, have those written down prior to your appointment or include those written questions with your delivered items. Tax appointments are now being scheduled and we highly recommend you go ahead and get your appointment on the calendar as soon as possible, as they are first come, first serve. To make an appointment, please call our office at 270.651.3013, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm and Saturday, 8:00am-12:00pm.
